What Is Sun Damage?
The term “sun damage” implies premature aging of the skin due to excessive overexposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. Frequent exposure to these rays hurts your skin’s ability to maintain essential antioxidants, hyaluronic acid content, and vitamins. When these components decline, we tend to develop uneven pigmentation, brown spots, and other similar issues. Though this kind of damage does occur naturally over time, sun damage tends to speed up the process. The most obvious solution to this problem is simply staying out of the sun, but that isn’t a realistic possibility. That is why our team at Bloom Med Spa is excited to offer you a set of effective treatment options to help improve the quality of your skin.
What Are the Causes?
Sun damage happens when we are overexposed to ultraviolet (UV) rays. There are two types of UV rays that damage skin: UVA and UVB. UVA rays are long wave rays that give you a tan, but can also activate the skin in an unhealthy way. UVA penetrate the skin much deeper than UVB rays and trigger premature aging. UVB rays are shorter wave rays that can also accelerate early signs of aging and typically cause greater damage to the skin’s surface. UVB rays are considered the most common cause of skin cancers.
What Are My Options for Treating Sun Damage?
At Bloom Med Spa, we are dedicated to helping alleviate skin conditions caused by sun damage. When you come in for a consultation at our center, we will take the time to evaluate your condition and do all we can to provide you with a treatment option fit for your particular needs. Our options include:
- Laser – Broad Band Light (BBL) stimulates cells to regenerate. The photothermal energy will reduce unwanted melanin that produces age spots and sun spots. Your skin will feel smoother, pores will be less noticeable, and uneven pigmentation will fade. Moxi laser provides a gentler approach to laser resurfacing, comfortably delivering non-ablative fractionated laser energy to the skin to promote new cell growth and reduce unwanted pigment.
- Platelet-Rich Plasma – This treatment uses the power of platelets to promote collagen production and improve the texture of your skin.
- Facial Treatments – Our facial treatments can help cleanse your skin of impurities and provide you with an even pigmentation.
